About Cultural Entrepreneurship

Cultural Entrepreneurship is characterized as a field of activity that is constantly changing, a field located at the intersection of art, culture and business.

Given the complexity of this field, those who work in this area are often people with vision, able to take risks and also able to mediate, manage and intertwine a series of complex and contradictory processes.

From the generation of ideas, to their realisation or implementation, to the marketing of these cultural products or the development of specific mechanisms through which they become profitable, cultural entrepreneurs are usually involved in all the processes mentioned above.

The process of generating cultural businesses involves a number of factors, including both the generation of ideas and creatively relevant content, and a good knowledge of the contexts in society, which can offer prospects for the success of cultural proposals. Without an understanding of socio-economic realities, the cultural entrepreneur is unable to generate ideas that find their use.

The context or contexts in which cultural businesses usually operate dictate how this type of business functions. Although we are talking about creative entrepreneurship, this type of business cannot function without being closely connected to the immediate realities of the social world.

As there are no special rules for entrepreneurs to follow in making cultural products, they can only confirm or deny their value once they are introduced to the market. As I said above, their validation is closely linked to the social contexts in which they take place or take place.

From the point of view of the risks associated with this type of activity, it should be mentioned that cultural entrepreneurship has a high degree of risk, precisely because of the lack of classical business recipes.

The #TransylvanianMoviePreneurs project aims to increase the competitiveness of entrepreneurship in the Cultural and Creative sectors, contributing both qualitatively and quantitatively to the growth of initiatives in the above mentioned fields.

#TransylvanianMoviePreneurs is an entrepreneurship education project in the field of Creative and Cultural Industries.

The promoters of this project are Civitas Foundation for Civil Society, 23 FILM and PROJECTS – Iceland.

The project is funded by EEA Grants 2014-2021, under the RO-Cultura Programme by the Ministry of Culture through the Project Management Unit (PMU).
